Hi, I just did 12500kms through Chile and Argentina in Feb,03. Since a massive devaluation, Argentina is so cheap for food, accomodation and gas, I could hardly bear to leave the place. Locals love bikers. Even officialdom likes us!Try it..you'll love it. Colin .

Bob, I've enjoyed your site for several years now. Your motorcycling peers down here in Presidio, Texas are alive and well. Seems like you see more and motorcycles being ridden around town and a kazillion people passing through town on all sorts of machines. Mazatlan is one of our favorite motorcycling destinations down here. Three of us rode down on Spring Break. I took a very out-of-the-way route west from Chihuahua City to Hermosillo (Hwy16), then south. If you follow 16 to its terminus, you'll be at Bahia de Kino, Sonora. Cheers, everyone!

I'm trying to plan a quick trip to Mexico for me and a few guys from work. This site is very helpful. I like the accounts of trips taken, it is good to learn from experience.We'll probably have a Nighthawk or two, Harley Roadking, and a few BMWs, leaving from Austin for a three day trip.

I am enjoying your site. A couple of us from work are planning a trip to Mexico this Fall, my first time but they have gone several times. We are thinking one four wheel drive toyota and the rest of us on KLR-650 Kawasaki enduros. They tend to go to the mountains and very remote areas... I have recently returned from a five week motorcycle camping trip through Mexico and Belize. Thanks for your web site, it gave me great inspiration and a lot of good info. I trailered my 1995 Harley Sportster from Minneapolis to McAllen, Tx. I parked my truck and trailer at the Best Little Warehouse in Texas just outside of McAllen,A nice 10’ X 30’ secure storage facility. I spent 10 days zigzagging through Mexico on my way to Belize. I stayed in Belize for two and a half weeks, camping in the jungle, backpacking the Jaguar Sanctuary and Maya Mountains, explored the Maya villages, rain forests and chilled on the beach for a week with my wife (she flew down and met me in Belize)in cheep guest houses. I than spend a week cruising backthough Mexico on my way to McAllen, Tx. Wow! This was one of the coolestcycle adventures, I have stories coming out of my ears, met many nice and friendly people, saw things I have only dreamed of, bla, bla, bla....I had a good time. Bob, it's always nice to drop by your site to see what's new. For everyone out there who hasn't ridden in Mexico yet, give it some serious consideration. Chances are, you'll love it! A friend of mine and I just took a ride down to Mazatlan over Spring Break. He has a Motoguzzi Jackal and I ride a Kawasaki KLR 650. Both bikes only suffered a couple of screws vibrating loose, otherwise flawless. For anyone thinking about heading south, crossing at Presidio, Texas is quick and hardly traveled at all. Even passing through the cities of Chihuahua, Parral, and Durango is no big deal. Aside from the obvious accomodations in the larger cities, you'll find places to stay in Las Nieves and Rodeo, both in Durango, as well as many places along Highway 40 from Durango to Mazatlan. What a super ride you're in for! Happy travels!

I'm planning on heading down the coast of Washington-Oregon-California to the Baja. I can take up to 5 weeks and am thinking of starting south in the next two weeks. So far this winter has been very mild and warm; from looking at this website http://www.medfordfuel.com/it looks like the weather the whole way down is well above freezing and not even all that wet.I'm going to go on a Suzuki 650.Anyone else been down to the Baja or other interesting rides lately?

This is a great site! Congratulations and thanks for your efforts, Bob. I own a Kawasaki KLR650 and plan to take it to Mazatlan before summer of 2000. I've driven to Mazatlan from Presidio, Texas, and I took the route Presidio/Ojinaga (MX) to Camargo, then to Jimenez, turning west towards Parral, then south to Durango, with the final leg, of course, to Mazatlan. Following this route, you can make it to Durango in 10 hours, and maybe less. Hey, has anyone ever taken Hwy. 24 from Parral to Culiacan? My map says the road may not be completely paved (A possible alternate route to Mazatlan?). Happy travels, everyone!

Bob-I have been dreaming and scheming of riding through Mexico for many years. My wife and I have just begun studying Spanish together to prepare for the eventual trip. Then I found your site, and I am so encouraged that so many other riders feel the same. I am concerned though, I thought bandit crime was still concentrated in and around Mexico City (where I have been on business many times). Should I re-consider traveling alone throughout the country? Really interesting site Bob, you sure have a lot of information here. I also ride a GL1200 , but it is a "85" Aspencade .I purchased in fall of 94 it didn't have 20000 mi. on it ,but today it rolled to 52000 , SAFE AND GOOD RIDING
