This is a great site! Congratulations and thanks for your efforts, Bob. I own a Kawasaki KLR650 and plan to take it to Mazatlan before summer of 2000. I've driven to Mazatlan from Presidio, Texas, and I took the route Presidio/Ojinaga (MX) to Camargo, then to Jimenez, turning west towards Parral, then south to Durango, with the final leg, of course, to Mazatlan. Following this route, you can make it to Durango in 10 hours, and maybe less. Hey, has anyone ever taken Hwy. 24 from Parral to Culiacan? My map says the road may not be completely paved (A possible alternate route to Mazatlan?). Happy travels, everyone!

Bob-I have been dreaming and scheming of riding through Mexico for many years. My wife and I have just begun studying Spanish together to prepare for the eventual trip. Then I found your site, and I am so encouraged that so many other riders feel the same. I am concerned though, I thought bandit crime was still concentrated in and around Mexico City (where I have been on business many times). Should I re-consider traveling alone throughout the country? Do you suggest that I stick with organized group tours?

A very nice site, with good descriptions of your trips. Do bikers get any respect south of the border? I've been told that they don't. Could you please let me know? thanks

I sure have enjoyed reading about your trips, I am a bit older than you but would very much like to meet you. Have you ever thought about taking a few or someone on a tour of Mexico for pay and teching your ways to others that no nothing about traveling in Mexico.I would like to visit with you about how to plan a trip into Mexico and what to expect although your reports are very good and leave little to the imigination. I ride a restored 79 Goldwing and plan to sell it and possibly buy a BMW that I know is to be sold. Anyway I would very much like to visit more with you about this subject.
